Liver Detox Regime

Aim of Liver Detox Regimes

To improve the general health and function of the liver, increase energy levels and aid weight loss where necessary.

To increase the intake of liver enhancing nutrients and minimise toxins, chemicals and other ingested allergens.

Increase bile production and bowel movements.

How do I know if I need a liver detox

If you have any of the following symptoms, it may mean that your liver is not functioning properly:

  • Feeling sluggish
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Weight gain or poor weight loss results
  • Headaches
  • Right sided abdominal pain
  • Skin discolouration
  • High cholesterol levels and small hard yellowish lumps around eye area
  • Digestion problems…especially fatty foods.
Easy ways to help support your liver
  • Firstly reduce your alcohol intake or stop altogether……you may need expert guidance here. Please please seek help if you drink heavily as stopping suddenly CAN cause serious medical problems.
  • Get enough sleep!
  • Eat as healthily as you can.

Healthy foods:

  • Start your day with hot water and fresh lemon, this will help your liver cleanse and refresh for the new day.
  • Supplement your healthy diet with a good vitamin from the B group, milk thistle, artichoke leaf and dandelion.
  • Reduce all processed foods, high sugar, salt and fatty foods.
  • Try sauna or steam cabinets to sweat out toxins through your skin……remember to replace water and salts afterwards.
  • Other foods and supplements to help the liver are garlic, cruciferous vegetables, turmeric, crab apple, zinc, beetroot, ginger, carrots, mint, black walnuts and water.

There are many ways to perform a liver detox, from changing the way you eat to hard core cleanses.

Several however, are so strict that I believe you should have a clean bill of health from your GP before you embark on one!

Please note…

Any drastic reduction in calorific intake should be undertaken when not at work so if you feel faint or dizzy you can lie down. I believe a group setting such as a detox weekend or retreat is much better as there will be someone to guide and support you.
